November 2013

1) Key Stage 3 Benchmarking 2013 – Summary results available to download

The spreadsheet of KS3 benchmarking data for 2013 can be downloaded from the ‘Middle School Research’ page of the Forum website

Click this link: http://www.middleschools.org.uk/research.php

The spreadsheet enables you to enter your own school results in the pages for each subject area and produce tables and graphs comparing your results with those of over 6,000 pupils in their final year at middle school in July 2013.

Thank you to all the schools who contributed data this year – you should have received the full set of school level data directly from me via email.

The Ofsted Subsidiary Guidance on inspecting middle schools makes reference to the availability of this data.

2) Conference 2013 – Presentations available from the Forum website

Some of the presentations from the main conference sessions can now be downloaded from the ‘Conference Reports’ page of the Forum website:

Please click this link: http://www.middleschools.org.uk/last.php

Mick Waters has asked that his presentation is only distributed to Forum members via email (rather than being publicly available) – if you would like a copy of his presentation please email me and I will send you one as an attachment.

Some comments from those who attended the conference:

An uplifting experience Really relevant, well organised and thought provoking Some time to discuss current issues on some informal sessions – and share good practice Very good idea to start and end conference with such good quality speakers
